http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22304236-5000117,00.html

When a woman has an abortion, the fetus is alive, and it is human, that`s a fact. But it is also true that it is a womans right to choose what she want to do with the baby inside of her. Some people might think abortions will never stop, and if it is legalized, only unsafe " underground" abortions will stop. what I personally think instead of stronger legislation regarding abortion rights, we should develop more regulations to take care of unwanted children after they are born; in this way we are really protecting human life.

http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F40F17F93D5C0C778DDDA10894DF404482

VOCABULARY:

stuffed: to place forcefully into a container or space; thrust: stuffed laundry into the bag.
rift: a break in friendly relations: a rift between two people; a rift between two nations.

MAIN IDEAS:

_A guy from Venezuela, tried to get pass Argentinian border controls with a lot of ilegal money
_ Presidents from both countries don`t want to put their hands on the subjet.
_ The owner of the money run away, authorities let him get away

PERSONAL REACTION:

This is obviously a case of money laundring. And in my opinion both presidents have something to do with it. It is to much money anda there is a nacional oil company envolved so... get your own conclussions.
On the other hand the suposed owner of the money is a very rich man who`s living at the moment in miami and made several trips to Argentina before, which lot of them looked very suspicious.

Cabrera Conquers Field But Bows to Brutal Oakmont

http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/sports/sports-golf-open-oakmont.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Dictionary:

ROUGH: Golf: any part of the course bordering the fairway on which the grass, weeds, etc., are not trimmed.
FAIRWAY: Golf: the part of the course where the grass is cut short between the tees and the putting greens, exclusive of the rough, trees, and hazards: More important than long drives is keeping your ball on the fairway.
GREEN: Also called putting green. Golf: the area of closely cropped grass surrounding each hole.

Main ideas:

_Cabrera``s amazing victory in one of the most important golf tournaments in the world.
_Player`s reaction towards the field
_ Cabrera`s statements
_ general analisis

Personal reaction:

Angel Cabrera is the 2007 US Open and there is nobody who could deny his right to be. In what was a stunning last round of golf on one of the most demanding golf course setups ever, the 37-year-old has changed his life forever. While many will be suggesting this was a surprise victory, and to many it was, Cabrera hade previously recorded six top tens in majors and won 15 tournaments worldwide. There was nothing lucky about Cabrera’s victory. For the fourth consecutive day only two players broke par and for the second time this week, Cabrera was one of them. He was able to bounce back after the disappointment of Saturday’s 76 and play with power, deft touch and great strategy. There were many other stories on this day and no doubt there will be many ‘what ifs’ in the analysis of the week but that will be of little concern to Cabrera.

GLOBAL WARMING

http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/science/topics/globalwarming/index.html
VOCABULARY:

unequivocal: having only one possible meaning or interpretation
smokestacks: A large chimney or vertical pipe through which combustion vapors, gases, and smoke are discharged.
underway: occurring while under way

MAIN IDEAS:

The article talks about global warming in the world and how humans are the main cause of it. By destroying forests and releasing carbon dioxide to the atmosfere, producing the greehouse effect, and increasing the world`s temperature. Also, it states that the sea will rease it`s level causing damages to a lot of people.

PERSONAL REACTION:

We hear more and more about global warming every day. Now is the time to focus on global warming solutions. I personally think the problem is something we can`t avoid now a days, industries are necesary, cars as well, end they both contaminate. We can`t go back in time, where people used what nature gave them. What we can do, is try to reduce contamination. We have the technology and the sources to reduce the threat of global warming today. By investing in renewable energy ( wind, solar, etc) and increasing the efficiency of the cars we drive, we can take essential steps toward reducing our dependence on oil and our emissions of heat-trapping gases.
The other issue is deforestation, which i belive can be avoided, and if not, people should plant other trees insterad in order to protect the "lungs of the world".
